Living for God is not popular – and even in the church it is not stressed as it should be. We are created by and for God; our purpose is to live for him. True joy and happiness will never be found anywhere else.
There has been a great compromise within the church; it seeks to keep hold of the world and to have Jesus Christ at the same time. The church of Jesus Christ cannot expect the reformation and revival that it longs for unless it is devoted to God, distinct from the world around – unless it knows consecration.
Nehemiah’s account of the reformation of the church begins with confession and proceeds to consecration. Together, confession and consecration form a pathway to restoration.
Consecration consists in a devotion to God and a distinction from the world.
