Breastplate of Righteousness
Something To Rejoice Over
Isaiah 61 anticipates an amazing announcement: the proclamation of freedom to the captive and joy to the mourning. This proclamation is fulfilled in the coming of Christ, who frees us to wear his righteousness and to build his Church in anticipation of the final day of justice that will one day come.
Continuing with Jesus
“But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.” It is surprising that Jesus should speak about his weak disciples in this way, shortly before they desert him in his hour of greatest need. We should be comforted by these generous words from the mouth of Christ.
Christ for the Weak
Christ, the Servant of God prophesied of in Isaiah, came to set things right. In his first and second coming he will establish justice on earth. Unlike anyone else, however, he will do this in gentleness and patience. In his triumphant reign he will not break the bruised reed or put out the smoking flax.

God Thinks Upon Us
It is both amazing and comforting that God thinks about us. His thoughts towards us are infinite, stretching back before the beginning of time. They are precious and gracious. They are also inescapable. There is no place we can go from his presence.
