John’s description of Jesus’ first sign, turning water into wine, is a beautiful narrative full of allusions to Old Testament prophecy. Jesus ushers in a joyful Messianic age of overflowing wine and celebration. He comes as the new Moses and the greater Joseph, the One who brings life and liberation to all nations.
